At Greenacre Academy and Walderslade Girls’ School, we offer Business Mentoring Programme to students as we believe that preparing our Pupils for life beyond education is as valuable as the academic qualifications they receive. Having mentors, from a variety of business sectors, helps our pupils to understand the world of work in more detail.
Mentors help to guide our pupils into achieving their aspirations, by talking to them about what they can expect from the working environment and being honest and realistic with them about the goals they have set themselves.
Mentors help our young people unlock their true potential, to guide them towards the most appropriate path, help them to see their own potential and encourage them to develop it and may even receive a job through the Business programme.
Business Mentors also help students with the following practical skills when planning for their future;
- CV writing and application form completion.
- Interview techniques – How to survive the process.
- Appropriate dress for an interview.
- A day at the ‘office’ compared to a day in school.
We have found this programme to be as rewarding for the mentor as it is the mentee.
